Since its inception in 1909, the NAACP has been a forerunner in the civil rights movement for all people. Its role was and continues to be an agent of change. It has been steadfast in the belief that racial segregation and discrimination limits and diminishes human potential—ultimately, denying full benefits of freedom to people of color.
Today, the NAACP remains vigilant in the fight for equality for all. Racism remains, but has become more subtle and sophisticated. It is as pervasive and devastating as it was in the past, so Beaumont has identified and are addressing all areas where blacks and people of color are underrepresented. The NAACP is re-establishing its status as the leader of change.
